Osteosarcoma
Symptoms   DOGS: Lameness; pronounced swelling and pain, especially at joint areas.
Likely Location / Spread   DOGS: Swelling near elbow, away from knees, near hock. Likely to spread to the lungs.
Treatment Options  DOGS: Surgical removal of the tumor; maybe amputation, then chemotherapy and sometimes radiation.
Treatment Side Effects   DOGS: Most animals handle amputation well. Mild side effects from chemo and radiation.
Treatment Duration  DOGS: Chemotherapy every 3 weeks for 4 treatments. Radiation weekly for 4 weeks.
Likely Outcome  DOGS: No therapy: 3 months. With therapy: 1 - 2 years or more.
